EEC Speaker Series

January 29 (Thursday) - In continuing our EEC speaker series, we will hear from Professor Alvaro Ruiz Emparanza from the University of Miami. Emparanza is involved in research in the fields of civil infrastructure sustainability and renewal. His research focuses on making infrastructure cost-effective and durable, specifically through the use of glass fiber reinforced polymer materials.

On Campus Meetings at The Hotchkiss School

February 3 (Wednesday) - We'll walk down to the Biomass Facility to check out an alternative form of energy production. The Biomass Facility burns wood chips to create steam that heats our campus in the winter.

February 2 (Monday) - As our world struggles to produce enough energy to power our growing economies, it has never been more important to find sustainable ways to keep our planet going. However, "sustainable" alternatives are not quite what they appear to be. Through this meeting, we will analyze the deadly effects of clearcutting forests for energy used throughout the world.
